Privacy Policy

Frank (chrisputer.tech) is operated by Chrisputer Labs. We collect as little as we can get away with. This page explains exactly what we store, why, and what your choices are.
What we collect
- •Search queries. The questions you submit are stored and may be published as public research pages. Do not put personal information in a search query.
- •Account data. If you create an account, we store your email address and a salted, one-way hash of your password (we never store the password itself), plus the list of searches you ran while signed in so you can revisit them across devices.
- •Email subscriptions. If you ask to be notified when a report is ready, we store your email address, a salted IP hash, and consent metadata for that notification purpose only.
- •Salted IP hashes. For rate limiting, free-tier quota counters (daily and lifetime), and affiliate click logging, we store a salted, one-way hash of your IP address (using WebCrypto SHA-256), never the raw address. The secret salt makes the hash impractical to reverse back into an IP address.
- •Chat messages. Messages you send to the "Talk about it" assistant are processed to generate a reply and are not stored by us afterwards.
What we do not collect
No advertising profiles built by us, no sale of personal data, no third-party trackers beyond the services listed below, no raw IP logs, and no fingerprinting.
Cookies and local storage
We use a minimal set of cookies and local storage keys:
- •Session cookie (
tr_sess). When you sign in, we set an HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax session cookie namedtr_sessthat keeps you signed in for 30 days. Signing out deletes this cookie. - •Consent cookie (
ads_consent). Stores your choice for advertising cookies (1for accepted,0for declined). It lasts 180 days. - •Theme preference (
theme). Stored in browser localStorage to remember light or dark mode. It never leaves your device. - •Search history (
truerank_history). Stored in browser localStorage to display your recent searches on this device. It never leaves your device unless you sign in to sync history. - •Layout preferences (
truerank_list_layout,truerank_history_layout). Stored in browser localStorage to remember your preferred view (spreadsheet, cards, compact, or timeline). They never leave your device. - •Advertising cookies. Set by Google AdSense only when consent is granted. See below.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We display ads served by Google AdSense. Visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are asked for consent before advertising cookies are set. If you decline consent, ad cookies are not set and personalized ads are not served. Google and its partners use advertising cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of many third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. Google's own privacy practices are described in the Google partner sites policy.
Affiliate links
As an Amazon Associate, Chrisputer Labs earns from qualifying purchases. Outbound buy links may carry an affiliate tag; retailers may set their own cookies when you click through. Affiliate relationships never influence our rankings. See our full disclosure on the About page.
Other services we rely on
- •Google Fonts. We load fonts from
fonts.googleapis.comandfonts.gstatic.comon every page. Loading fonts sends your IP address and browser user agent to Google to serve the font files. - •Cloudflare hosts the site and provides cookieless, privacy-first analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics).
- •Google Search. For products Amazon does not sell, our
/findlink redirects you to a Google search for your query; that query is sent to Google as part of the redirect. - •AI providers. Research and chat are generated by large language models accessed through OpenRouter. Queries are processed to produce reports and replies.
- •Search providers. We send the words you type into the search box to our own search server (SearXNG), which passes them on to public search engines (DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Yandex, GMX, Swisscows, Yep, and others). If it finds too little, we send them to Brave Search or Exa. We also send them to Hacker News search (through Algolia). This helps us find review pages for your report.
- •Page reader. To read the text of a review or product page, we send its web address to Jina Reader (r.jina.ai). If that service cannot read a page, or the page is a video, we fetch it directly instead. Only the page address goes to these services, not personal data.
- •Email notifications. If you ask for an email when a report is ready, we store your address in our database (Cloudflare D1) and send the message through Hostinger, our mailbox provider. Your address is used only for the notifications you requested. Every notification contains a one-click unsubscribe link.
Data retention
- •Quota counters. Free-tier quota records in KV storage expire automatically after 365 days.
- •Rate-limit windows. Rate-limiting records expire within seconds to one hour depending on the endpoint.
- •Email subscriptions. Active subscriptions remain until you unsubscribe. Unconfirmed subscription requests that are not verified within 30 days are automatically deleted.
- •Accounts and sessions. Account data is retained until you delete your account. Session tokens expire after 30 days, and expired sessions are purged on a regular schedule.
Your choices and rights
You can use the entire research side of the site without an account. Signed-in users can export all their stored data as JSON or delete their account at any time on the Account page. To remove a subscription email, use the one-click link in any email or contact us. Depending on where you live (such as the EU/EEA under GDPR or California under CCPA/CPRA), you have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold about you.
Opt out of advertising cookies (CCPA / CPRA)
Any visitor can opt out of personalized advertising cookies at any time. Clicking the button below sets your advertising consent to declined (ads_consent=0).
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
